TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF HEATING AND CURRENT DRIVE BY LOWER HYBRID WAVES ON TOKAMAKS
Recent technical developments on lower hybrid systems are reviewed. The physical constraints which determine the main characteristics of the RF system will be first given. The main part of the paper describes the problems associated with (i) the generation and the transmission of large amounts of RF power, (ii) the coupling structures required in order to inject this RF power into the torus.
