DESIGN, ANALYSIS AND PERFORMANCE OF A PASSIVE SOLAR HEATING SYSTEM WITH A HEATPUMP AND A LONG TERM HEAT STORAGE
A passive solar heating system using a heatpump and a long term heat storage has been studied and built at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra. The passive system consists of a sunspace with a low thermal inertia, attached to an existing building. The aim of the project is to study the possibility of storing the excess heat of the passive system in the cold source of a heatpump and using this heat through the heatpump during periods with little or no sunshine. The system design and some preliminary results are presented.
