Abstract

The first paper presented deals with the System management of a CAD system. Problems encountered in managing a CAD installation are illustrated by examples experienced with the MEDUSA system installed at JRC Ispra. It focuses on the updating of software, on the maintenance of the various hardware devices and on the management of a multiuser environment. The second paper is entitled Network connections of the CAD systems at JRC-Ispra. It analyzes the various types of network connections and shows their utility in a CAD/CAE environment. The communication with remote centres is illustrated by the example of the infrastructure implemented at Ispra. A comparison between centralized and distributed architecture of CAD systems is included.
