PLASTICIZATION RECYCLING OF WASTE PLASTIC EXTRACTED FROM URBAN REFUSE - IT DEMONSTRATION PROJECT
This demonstration project deals with the recovery of plastics to be used as new raw material. It integrates all parameters of the recycling line, ranging from refuse collection to the final marketing of homogeneous mixtures of plastic materials. The method developed is also suited to selectively collected miscellaneous bottles (PVC, HDPE, and PETP) and to mixed flexible films extracted by automatic separation of the light fraction of household refuse. After cleansing, purification, and plasticization/granulation, the homogeneous granules obtained are marketed in the same way as a new type of plastic, i.e. they are converted by extrusion or injection into finished products. This project aims also to stimulate cooperation between the recycling industry, the manufacturers of equipment, and the users.
