Abstract

Methods and uncertainties linked with PSA techniques are being assessed at the JRC (ISPRA) via a set of benchmark exercises in which participate major organizations concerned with nuclear power reactor development and operation in the EEC member countries, in Scandinavia and the USA, with the aim of obtaining a comprehensive state-of-the-art review and to achieve a consensus on procedures and models to be adopted. Present situation and requirements: The ERDS (European Reliability Data System) collects, organizes and analyzes information on NPP operation at the European level. Conceived as an integrated data system and structured into four banks (Component Event Data Bank, Abnormal Occurrences Reporting System, Operating Unit Status Report, Reliability Parameter Data Bank), the ERDS organizes and analyses NPP information at the European level. The three centralized banks mentioned first receive data from the national reporting systems or from the NPPs and offer to data suppliers and users information for comparative studies assessing the operational performances of plants different in concept and operating procedures. Advanced data analysis techniques are applied at the JRC for analysing the contents of these banks.
