UNCERTAINTY ASSIGNMENT IN RADIONUCLIDE METROLOGY
An introduction is given to the problems how to properly assign uncertainties to the results of measurements. The basic principles based on recommendations of the BIPM (Bureau International des Poids et Mesures) are outlined and methods are indicated for the estimation of variances and covariances. The general expression for the propagation of uncertainties is derived. Examples are taken from the field of radionuclide metrology.
