Abstract

This paper describes and discusses the operation of JET Remote Handling (RH) equipment and the infrastructure and equipment required to support it during an RH intervention on JET. The paper covers the design and implementation of the Man-Machine Interface (MMI), the identification and categorisation of RH tasks and the influence that these have on the machine design and the method of operation of RH equipment and all support infrastructure such as Active Handling facilities. The paper concludes with a review of the RH programme and its relationship to the JET programme.
