Abstract

The Commission of the European Communities, implementing decisions of the Council on plant protection researches at the member Countries' level, set up a programme dealing with the defence of different crops, among which are cereals. The aim was to study specific products and useful strategies of control respecting the environment, the agro-ecosystems in particular. In order to act in full consciousness of the need for a more rational employment of pesticides, and the replacement of polluting chemical substances by means which respect the environment and which consume less energy, the recourse to the principles of integrated pest control management becomes very urgent and of paramount importance.
