Abstract

Current generation in a tokamak reactor using synchrotron radiation and the bootstrap effect is considered. It is found that for sufficiently high temperatures, the total current generated by these passive drivers is sufficient to allow continuous operation with parameters satisfying the density and beta limitations as well as the thermal balance requirements.
