Abstract

The m=1 kink mode is investigated in the high temperature regime where the width of the singular layer is determined by the mean ion gyroradius. A dispersion relation is presented that contains the full ion dynamics. The growth rates are larger than the corresponding ones obtained from fluid theory. Diamagnetic stabilisation is weaker than in the fluid case. If eta-"rm i" is sufficiently large an unstable mode is found for all values of omega"ast" even at zero resistivity.
