QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT IN PHOTOVOLTAICS
After a general introduction of the problem how to use quality as a tool to achieve technological progress, we describe our approach and proceed through the definition of guidelines and test specifications to the creation of a relevant data base. Using JRC's quality assessment programme as an example we present typical results from reference cell calibrations, the qualification of photovoltaic modules and on-site analyses of entire photovoltaic fields. We describe briefly our quality quantification methods and conclude by pointing out the need for achieving a high but also measurable PV quality'' to gain financial and political support.
