STRESS CORROSION OF 1.4914 STEEL IN PB-17LI AND LIQUID METAL EMBRITTLEMENT (LME) SUSCEPTIBILITY OF ITS WELDED STRUCTURE
Stress corrosion tests at 450circC, using tensile specimens and constant loads have been carried out in static Pb-17Li under vacuum on 1.4914 type steel. Stress corrosion susceptibility tests (SCS) in Pb-17Li at slow strain rates have also been carried out at the same temperature. The susceptibility to Liquid Metal Embrittlement (LME) of 1.4914 simulated heat affected zone of welded structure, in Pb-17Li, has been studied at 250, 300, 400circC (M. pt. of Pb-17Li: 235circC). The effect of post-weld heat treatments is reported.
