Abstract

THE STUDY REPORT PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF THE DIFFERENT LASER SOURCES AND LASER-INDUCED PROCESSES. SPECIAL CHAPTERS DEAL WITH THE SYNTHESIS AND PURIFICATION OF CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES, LASER ISOTOPE SEPARATION, MICROCHEMISTRY, CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND DIAGNOSTICS AND BASIC TECHNOLOGIES AND EQUIPMENT. A STRONG INTERPLAY IS SEEN BETWEEN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LASERS, MATERIALS SCIENCE, LASER DIAGNOSTICS AND LASER PROCESSING OF MATERIALS. WITH ADVANCED MINIATURIZATION OF MANY ELECTRONIC AND OPTO-ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS, SURFACES OF VERY HIGH QUALITY BECOME MORE AND MORE IMPORTANT. LASER SURFACE PROCESSING IS PROBABLY THE MOST PROMISING FIELD OF LASER APPLICATIONS IN ADVANCED CHEMISTRY.
