Abstract

TWO MODES OF HYDROGEN TRANSPORTATION ARE CONSIDERED, ONE IN LIQUID HYDRIDES (TOLUENE, METHYLCYLOHEXANE) AND THE OTHER IN LIQUEFIED AND LIQUID HYDRIDES. THE WHOLE TRANSPORT SUBSYSTEM (SHIPS AND STORAGE TANKS) IS STUDIED. TECHNO-ECONOMIC CALCULATIONS ARE PERFORMED FOR DIFFERENT ROUTE LENGTHS AND QUANTITIES TO BE TRANSPORTED ANNUALLY. FOR EACH CASE AN OPTIMIZATION IS MADE TO SINGLE OUT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MOST SUITABLE SUB-SYSTEMS, SIZE AND SPEED OF THE SHIP AND NUMBER AND SIZE OF THE STORAGE TANKS. THEN A NEW TYPE OF DEDICATED SHIP FOR LIQUEFIED HYDROGEN IS DESCRIBED.
