Abstract

THE PROPERTIES OF HYDROGEN FACILITATE THE PURSUIT OF CLEAN, SELF-CONTAINED ENERGY SYSTEMS; PRIMARY ENERGY IN THE FORM OF WATER POWER OR SOLAR ENERGY FROM DESERT COUNTRIES CAN BE TRANSPORTED IN THE FORM OF ELECTROLYTIC HYDROGEN TO EUROPE, IN ORDER TO BE BURNED CLEANLY IN POWER STATIONS, INDUSTRY, HOUSEHOLDS, CARS AND AEROPLANES. LIKEWISE, A LOCAL OR TEMPORAL EXCESS OF NUCLEAR ENERGY CAN BE STORED AND TRANSPORTED. HYDROGEN SYSTEMS - ESPECIALLY SOLAR HYDROGEN SYSTEMS - ARE NATURALLY CYCLICAL AND SHOW SELF-CONTAINEDNESS, ABUNDANCE, FRIENDLINESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND FEASIBILITY. SO THE TIME HAS NOW COME FOR PILOT AND DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS TO BE CARRIED OUT THAT WILL POINT THE WAY AHEAD; THESE ARE PREREQUISITE IF THE OIL-PRODUCING COUNTRIES ARE TO SET UP POLITICALLY INDEPENDENT, RENEWABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY SYSTEMS.
