Abstract

THE ENERGY AUDITING SYSTEMS CURRENTLY USED IN EUROPE VARY WIDELY IN THEIR DEGREE OF COMPLEXITY AND COST. THIS PAPER EVALUATES FOUR ENERGY AUDITS BY COMPARISON WITH EACH OTHER AND WITH A MORE THOROUGH "BENCH-MARK" SURVEY. THE SET OF BUILDINGS CONSISTED OF A GROUP OF SIX APARTMENT BLOCKS CONNECTED TO A COMMON HEATING PLANT, A PRIMARY SCHOOL AND A SINGLE FAMILY, MID-TERRACE, HOUSE. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE AUDITS AND THE DIFFERENCES OBSERVED IN DATA COLLECTED, SAVINGS ESTIMATED AND FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS. IT EVALUATES THE ACCURACY OF THE AUDITS AND THEIR COST-EFFECTIVENESS AND SUGGESTS WAYS IN WHICH THE METHODOLOGY COULD BE IMPROVED.
