Abstract

THE USE OF A RUGGED, FIELD-PORTABLE, SINGLE-CHANNEL SPECTRORADIOMETER FOR MEASUREMENTS OF SUN AND LAMP SPECTRA IS DESCRIBED, EMPHASISING THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCURATE CALIBRATION OF THE INSTRUMENT. THE MEASURED SPECTRA ARE USED FOR TWO PURPOSES : 1) TO COMPARE EXISTING, AND TO DEVELOP NEW MODELS FOR THE SOLAR IRRADIATION UNDER DIFFERENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, WHICH SERVE TO BUILD UP A CATALOGUE OF IRRADIANCE DATA FOR ASSESSING THE OUTPUT OF PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) MODULES. 2) TO TRANSLATE PV CELL AND MODULE CALIBRATIONS TO STANDARD REPORTING CONDITIONS AND TO DETERMINE THE SPECTRAL MISMATCH CORRECTION.
