Abstract

THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE WORKING RESULTS OF THE SWIMMING POOL LOCATED IN LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE, WHERE SOLAR PANELS WERE PLACED TO HEAT THE POOLS AND PIPED WATER SUPPLY. THE PROJECT FORMS PART OF THE EEC DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMME COMPRISING 52 SOLAR HEATED SWIMMING POOLS. THE COMPLEX OF LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE INCLUDES TWO COVERED SWIMMING POOLS, WITH A TOTAL WATER SURFACE AREA OF 600M2. 200M2 SOLAR COLLECTORS WERE PLACED ON THE ROOF OF THE LOW SWIMMING POOL IN ORDER TO PRODUCE PIPED HOT WATER AND 150M2 COLLECTORS WERE PLACED ON THE ROOF OF THE HIGH SWIMMING POOL IN ORDER TO HEAT THE WATER OF THE POOLS. HEAT THE WATER OF THE POOLS. THE PERFORMANCE MEASURED FROM AUGUST 84 TO JULY 86 SHOWS A USEFUL ENERGY OF 376 KWH/M2 YEAR FOR THE POOLS HEATING SYSTEM AND 196 KWH/M2 YEAR FOR THE HOT WATER HEATING SYSTEM.
