Abstract

THE HUMAN HAIR FOLLICLE CAN BE REGARDED AS THE PERFECT MICROCOSMIC STRUCTURE, AS A MODEL FOR THE STUDY OF HUMAN DISEASES SUCH AS AGEING OR CANCER AND THE STUDY OF GROWTH REGULATION. A SERIES OF DRUGS WITH A STRONG HYPERTRICHOTIC EFFECT, WHICH DO NOT INTERFERE IN THE MECHANISMS OF ANDROGEN ACTION, PROMISE TO INCREASE THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF ALOPECIA. UNACCEPTABLE SIDE-EFFECTS OF THESE DRUGS PRESENT A MAJOR RESEARCH CHALLENGE.
