Abstract

CHLOROPHYLL FLUORESCENCE HAS BEEN ANALYSED WITH SPRUCE NEEDLES BY TWO DIFFERENT METHODS. THOSE ALLOW THE CALCULATION OF THE FLUORESCENCE COEFFICIENT OR VITALITY INDEX RFD ON ONE HAND AND, ON THE OTHER HAND, OF THE TWO QUENCHING COEFFICIENTS OF FLUORESCENCE (PHOTOCHEMICAL QUENCHING, QQ, AND NON PHOTOCHEMICAL ONE, QE). THE INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT PARAMETERS ON FLUORESCENCE HAS BEEN STUDIED. THEY ARE LINKED TO THE CONDITIONS OF MEASUREMENT, LIGHT INTENSITY AND TIME OF DARK ADAPTION OR TO THE GREEN MATERIAL AS AGE OF NEEDLES AND GENETIC FEATURES. MOREOVER, THE FIRST RESULTS OBTAINED IN A STUDY ON MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY, GIVE SUPPORT TO THE POSSIBLE USE OF THE SECOND METHOD IN EARLY DETECTION OF FOREST DAMAGES.
