Kurzbeschreibung

IN AN EARLIER WORK CONCERNING THE SHUTTING DOWN OF NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS, A PROCESS WAS DEVELOPED THROUGH LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS FOR THE COMPLETE DECONTAMINATION OF AUSTENITIC MATERIALS. IN THIS REPORT, THE TECHNICALITIES OF ITS USE ARE DESCRIBED. AN NW-50-PIECE OF PIPE, APPROXIMATELY 20M LONG, FROM A PRIMARY STEAM PIPE OF THE LINGEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, THAT SERVED AS A TEST OBJECT, COULD BE DECONTAMINATED TO BELOW THE EXEMPTION LIMITS OF THE GERMAN RADIATION PROTECTION ORDINANCE. AS AN EXAMPLE OF THE APPLICATION OF THE PROCESS ON A 1300-MW PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR, THE DECONTAMINATION OF THE PRIMARY CIRCULATION IS OBSERVED. AN ADVANTAGE OF THE PROCESS IS THAT IT DEMANDS NO TIME-CONSUMING WORK ON HIGHLY CONTAMINATED PARTS OF THE PLANT. A DISADVANTAGE OF THE PROCESS IS THAT A GREAT MANY CHEMICAL SOLUTIONS NEED TO BE USED.
