Abstract

FOLLOWING THE ANTWERP CONFERENCE, TASK FORCES WERE APPOINTED BY THE NUCLEAR ENERGY AGENCY NUCLEAR DATA COMMITTEE (NEANDC) TO INVESTIGATE DISCREPANCIES IN THE MEASUREMENTS OF THE U-238 CAPTURE CROSS-SECTION BETWEEN 1 AND 30 KEV. THE WORK UNDERTAKEN SINCE THE CONFERENCE AT FE ON MATTERS RELATED TO THE TASK FORCES IS REVIEWED. IN THE CASE OF U-238, PARTICULAR EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE REANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF RESOLVED RESONANCE PARAMETERS. IN THE CASE OF FE-56, THE ATTENTION IS FOCUSSED ON THE EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE RESPONSE FUNCTIONS OF CAPTURE DETECTORS AND ON THE COMPARISON OF THESE DATA WITH CALCULATIONS.
