Abstract

THE MULTI-PHASE MULTI-COMPONENT (MPMC) TEST FACILITY OF JRC - ISPRA HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO INVESTIGATE TRANSIENT FLUID FLOW SITUATIONS RELATED TO THE DEPRESSURISATION OF STORAGE VESSELS THROUGH A VENTING LINE. A FIRST SERIES OF WATER BLOWDOWN TESTS HAS BEEN PERFORMED IN ORDER TO CALIBRATE THE FACILITY. THE TEST RESULTS AND THE ASSOCIATED SAFIRE INTERPRETATIONS ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED IN THIS REPORT. IN SPITE OF SOME COMPUTER CODE LIMITATIONS, SATISFACTORY AGREEMENT BETWEEN EXPERIMENTAL AND COMPUTED RESULTS HAS BEEN OBTAINED.
