Abstract

THE GENERALIZED MIDPOINT RULE IS USED FOR THE TIME INTEGRATION OF ROBINSON'S VISCOPLASTIC MODEL, WHICH IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE SO-CALLED OVERSTRESS MODELS. THE INTEGRATION SCHEME IS IMPLEMENTED INTO THE FINITE ELEMENT E ABAQUS. THE SOLUTION OF THE SYSTEM OF NONLINEAR, ALGEBRAIC EQUATIONS ARISING FROM THE TIME DISCRETISATION OF THE CONSTITUTIVE EQUATIONS, WAS DETERMINED BY USING A PROJECTION METHOD IN COMBINATION WITH NEWTON'S METHOD. THE TANGENT MODULI WERE CALCULATED CONSISTENTLY WITH THE APPLIED INTEGRATION ALGORITHM. THE NUMERICAL EXAMPLES SHOWED THAT THE METHOD CAN BE EFFICIENTLY USED FOR TRANSIENT THERMAL LOAD CASES IN THE CREEP-REGIME WHICH LEAD TO RATCHETT BEHAVIOUR OF THE COMPONENT AND THAT ALSO SINGULAR CRACK TIP FIELDS IN VISCOPLASTIC BODIES ARE REPRODUCED WITH HIGH ACCURACY.
