REFINERY FLUE GAS DESULPHURISATION PLANT BY THE ISPRA MARK 13A PROCESS
A new regenerative wet scrubbing process for flue gas desulphurisation, Ispra Mark 13A, is presented. The process produces two useful products, sulphuric acid and hydrogen. Process flow schemes and process principles are discussed. A demonstration plant of the process has been in operation since December 1988 at the SARAS Refinery at Sarroch (Sardinia). The plant treats 32 000 Nm3/h of flue gas produced by the combustion of a mixture of heavy fuel oil and refinery gas.
