Abstract

The importance of the in-vessel flow regimes during the depressurisation of vessels containing viscous and non-viscous fluids is examined by the codes SAFIRE and DEERS. Similarly, the influence of the chemical reaction on the transience has been investigated for simple reacting mixtures. The differences of venting into the atmosphere or venting into a catch tank have been also examined. Whenever possible, experimental comparisons are made, with the main emphasis directed towards the hydrodynamic aspects of the phenomena involved.
