Abstract

The use of the rugged, field portable single channel spectroradiometer of GER (New York) for measurements of sun and lamp spectra is described, emphasising the importance of accurate calibration of the instrument. The measured spectra are used to compare existing models and to develop new ones for the sun irradiance at different weather conditions, which serve to build up a catalogue of irradiance data for assessing the output of PV modules. They are also used to translate PV cell and modules calibrations to standard reporting conditions including compensation for spectral mismatch.
