Abstract

The nuclide yields from the spontaneous fission of 252Cf are measured as a function of the total excitation energy available to both fragments in energy bins of 2 MeV from zero to 16 MeV. More than 200 nuclides are identified, 56 of which lie outside the Karlsruhe Chart of the Nuclides. Nuclear mass and charge distributions are measured for each excitation energy bin. Proton, neutron and mass odd-even effects are evaluated. The strongest odd-even effect is measured for the nuclear charge of the fragments, whereas the neutron odd-even effect is much smaller. The slopes of all three odd-even effects are different from each other.
