EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF A QUASI-OPTICAL GYROTRON OPERATING AT THE FUNDAMENTAL FREQUENCY
In a 100 GHz quasi-optical gyrotron, powers higher than 90 kW at an efficiency of about 12% have been recorded. Depending on the electron beam parameters, the frequency spectrum of the output can be either single or multi-moded. Various techniques have been tested for tuning the output frequency, such as changing the mirror separation, the beam voltage or the main magnetic field. Within the limitations of the present set-up, the largest tunability (50%) was achieved by the latter method.
