ESPRIT '87 ACHIEVEMENTS AND IMPACT PROCEEDINGS OF THE 4TH ANNUAL ESPRIT CONFERENCE BRUSSELS, SEPTEMBER 28-29, 1987
In the microelectronics area, reports present an overview of certain projects, including basic technologies, application technologies, high level systems design and CAD for VLSI design. The software technology area covers environments, metrication and management and formal software methods. Knowledge engineering, systems architecture and design, signal processing, natural languages, expert systems and documents, architecture, storage and retrieval are reported in the context of advanced information processing. The second part of the report deals with office systems, computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) and information exchange systems. Aspects of the first of these discussed here include image and speech handling, human factors, workstations and MMI, distribution systems and communications. In CIM, reports are presented on CAD and CAM tools, knowledge based developments in CIM, robots and again the topic of human factors.
