Résumé

This document describes the development of a cell designed to calibrate industrial thermometers at the melting point of sodium. The cell has an enclosure at the adapted regulated temperature. The cell is calibrated and carefully designed for stability. It is clear from the calculations and the work carried out that the main difficulties in obtaining the melting point of sodium are in acquiring sufficiently pure sodium and maintaining that purity. The arrangement described in the report enables industrial probes to be calibrated under comfortable conditions to better than +-5mK. This meets requirements, given the stability of the probes in position. The cell will be kept available to the Commission, so that it can be sent to metrological laboratories in Member States and act as a transfer standard for intercomparisons.
