REPORTS OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE FOR FOOD (23RD SERIES)
In the present report the Scientific Committee for Food expresses its opinion on the essential requirements of infant formulae and follow up milks based on soya protein isolates. Reasons for using these products and their basic composition in proteins, lipids, glucides, minerals and vitamins are reviewed, The Committee's opinion is that, in order to meet the nutritional requirements of infants and small children, soya based products should be required to be supplemented with certain substances. The recommendations of the Scientific Committee for Food on the essential requirements of infant formulae and follow up milks based on cows' milk proteins was published in 1983 (Reports of the Scientific Committee for Food, Fourteenth series, EUR 8752, p.9).
