SEPARATION AND PURIFICATION OF AN ISOTOPICALLY LABELLED METHANE (C(13)D(4)) FROM FIELD COLLECTED AIR SAMPLES
This report describes a technique for the separation and purification of an isotopically labelled methane (C(13)D(4)) from field collected air samples. The methane is separated from air firstly by a cryogenic gas separation system, and then by a six metre molecular sieve column. The separated methane is collected in a sampler, from which a desired amount can be withdrawn by a syringe and injected onto an analysing instrument.
