BIOLOGICAL INDICATIONS FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF HUMAN EXPOSURE TO INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS
The sixth volume of the series on Human Biological Monitoring contains monographs on ethyl/methyl/isopropylbenzene, beryllium, carbon monoxide, selenium and anaesthetic gases. For each noxious agent included, the hazard evaluation takes into account the following parameters: 1) Concentration of the substance in various biological media, 2) concentration of its metabolites in the same media, 3) determination of the adverse biological changes as a result of the reaction of the organism to the exposure. For each substance the review lists information on chemical identification, summary of the effects on human health (including metabolism), available biological indicators (of dose and/or effects), recommended analytical methods and references.
