INDENTATION FRACTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CERAMIC FUELS AND OF WASTE CERAMICS AND GLASSES
The aim of the workshop reported was to discuss, define and standardise indentation methods and to elaborate their use for materials research, with particular reference to the nuclear fuel cycle. Measurement techniques, reliability, the effects of environmental parameters and of radiation damage are discussed in detail. Non- destructive indentation techniques are shown to yield valuable results in a number of research fields and are in use for the characterisation of nuclear materials.
