Abstract

The main topical sectors addressed by the HFR programme are nuclear energy deployment (LWR, HTR, LMFBR, Fusion), fundamental research with neutrons, and radioisotope production. It is clearly recognised that the programmes which contribute to the exploitation of HFR are under continuous evolution. Therefore it is of major importance for those responsible for the management of the HFR programme that, in close contact with major clients, new orientations are anticipated at an early stage in order to keep the reactor and its ancillary and experimental equipment-up-to-date and prepared for future demands. The HFR Colloquium held in April 1989 at Petten served as a forum for discussing this matter between HFR programme representatives and those who make use of the HFR as an irradiation source.
