FUEL CELLS AND ADVANCED BATTERIES PROCEEDINGS OF FIVE CEC CONTRACTORS MEETINGS HELD IN 1988Funded under: FP1-ENNONUC 3C
The contractors' meetings on fuel cells reported on research into solid oxide (SOFC), molten carbonate (MCFC), direct methanol (DMFC) and solid proton (SPFC) fuel cells. The objective is the development of cost effective fuel cells for large scale (up to 200MW) and small scale (1-50kW) power production and transportation. The main emphasis is on SOFC and MCFC for large scale applications. The development of the advanced battery aims to produce a battery that is more suitable for electrical vehicles than the lead acid battery. It is hoped to achieve a journey range of 250 km and sufficient power for good acceleration. Activities focus on solid Li batteries with either glass or polymer electrolyte.
