INFLUENZA DELLA DENSITA DI CARICA SUL PROCESSO DI COKEFAZIONE IN FORNI A CAMERA LARGA
When rebuilding coke batteries, it is advisable to utilise wider ovens to improve the environment, reduce operating costs, ensure a better productivity index (kg/man-hour), and reaffirm the supremacy of European technology in the construction of such facilities. One adverse result of using wider ovens is the decrease in specific hourly production (kg/m2/h). However this can be kept within reason by taking action on the charge density. The objective of the research was thus to make an in-depth study of the influence of charge density on the coking process in wide ovens (550 mm) and of means of modifying charge density. The research was conducted on pilot-plant scale using the CSM's experimental coking facility. The programme included coking tests of various blends in a 450 mm wide oven and tests with the same blends and with individual coals using a 550 mm oven.
