Abstract

Waste containing PCBs is known to pose a serious environmental problem. Previous experimental work is now extended to the disposal of such waste by solidification/immobilisation in cement. The effects of PCBs on the physical properties of the cement matrix and the leachability under static and dynamic water conditions have been studied in detail. A commercial transformer fluid was used as representative of typical PCB wastes.
