AN ANALYSIS OF DIRECT ELECTRON HEATING PROFILES DURING ICRH
For plasmas with high electron temperature and density, damping of the magnetosonic wave in the ion cyclotron range of frequency by electron transit time magnetic pumping and electron Landau damping becomes important. To be able to calculate the power deposition profile and the amount of power being absorbed by these processes, the power deposition profiles in tokamak plasmas are analysed using the LION-code. A simple formula for the power deposition is obtained.
