Abstract

Emission and absorption of electron cyclotron waves by the far end of a lower-hybrid flat tail are investigated. Using the tail structure obtained from the Fokker-Planck theory of the relativistic tail in the saturation regime, the salient features of the radiation spectra are computed. The results are suitable for an accurate verification of the kinetic theory of the tail formation.
