A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ON DECISION-SUPPORT SYSTEMS IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENTFunded under: JRC-INDHAZ 2C
The aim of this paper is to present a certain perspective of approaching the environmental management subject-matter which combines some elements of social systems theory, decision-making and computer science fields. The distributed-negotiative decision-making in the domain of environmental management, involving heterogeneous groups of actors who represent conflicting interests and axiologies, as well as competing knowledge and data, requires a new kind of computer support system. Such systems should be based on a revised paradigm of social interaction and linguistic communication, as well as refer to the revised paradigm of rationality.
