EL TRANSPORTE MARITIMO DEL HIDROGENO - PROBLEMAS Y PERSPECTIVAS
Hydrogen must be stored to be transported by ships. Storage can be made in methanol, ammonia, solid and liquid hydrides; hydrogen can also be liquefied. No special problems exist for methanol and ammonia transport but due to environmental aspects (possible contamination during production, storage, transport and dehydrogenation processes) these two hydrogen vectors are not considered here. Storage in solid hydrides is also not considered because of the technical difficulties of the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes, which will have to be done on board the ship. Only liquid hydrides and liquid hydrogen transport are considered in this paper.
