Résumé

The prospects for developing anaerobic digestion of agricultural wastes, in view of the energy situation, are still very worthwhile in developing countries. In industrialised countries on the other hand, biomethanation essentially helps to protect the environment. This study is being carried out in the hope of overcoming the reticence of the farming community and persuading public authorities. It aims to make the process more profitable, by optimising the solubility of the biopolymers and upgrading the by-products of methanation. The study is modelled on methane fermentation of pig manure with a retention time of ten days. It uses a comparative method which takes account of the anaerobic solubility of parietal polymers, chitin and keratin. Solubility of organic residue and plant fibre, upgrading of feather meal and compost in biological control of telluric phytopathogenetic agents and the mycolytic mechanism in anaerobic digestion are analysed in detail. The conclusions open up prospects of improving the methane yield of pig manure after the addition of cellulose and pectin, due to improved solubility of the organic material. Various industrial applications for the resultant products are mentioned.
