SCHREITAUSBAU FUER STREB UND STREBENDEN IN GROSSER TEUFE
The support technology for pneumatic stowage has been developed to a point where pneumatic stowage can now be practised in seams of medium thickness. This can reduce the effects of strata pressure and the resulting costs for maintenance of underground workings expected in mining at greater depths. Furthermore, less subsidence damage is expected at the surface and less dirt is dumped on the surface, a substantial contribution to environmental protection. The mechanisation of support in face ends is generally possible, although the operational properties of the face-end support systems under investigation could be improved. Accident risks in the face-end area can also be reduced. The improvements derived regarding suitability of automation for coalface operations result in less roof fall in the face and thus less dirt in the production stream of several faces. Furthermore, the frequency of accidents when taking remedial action against roof fall is reduced.
