Abstract

The Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) is commonly used to specify the principal low temperature characteristics of distillate heating oils and diesel fuels. The method is defined by the EN 116 standard. A reference gas oil for verifying manual and automatic apparatus at a CFPP level of -6 C in relation with the EN standard was selected and certified in an interlaboratory exercise involving 26 laboratories of the EC Member countries. Homogeneity and long term stability of the reference material was demonstrated. The reference material is available in a glass jar conforming to the EN 116 standard. Verification of apparatus with the reference material should occur at least twice a year.
