DYNAMIC MONITORING OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF ROLLS DURING THE HOT CALIBRATED ROLLING OF LONG PRODUCTS
The research concerns the improvement of dimensional properties and the increase of output in the rolling of long articles such as sheet piles, girders and angles. The object is to develop a system which can measure the action of the rolls both in real time and dynamically during the rolling process. In association with this system, there are plans to construct a model which can establish the relationship between the size of the vertical and axial gap between the rolls and the shape of the article produced. Finally, researchers will consider integrating the system into an infrastructure for control and on-line adjustment of the roll gap.
