Abstract

The aim of the workshop was to monitor the present state of development in emergency planning and preparedness. The discussions concentrated on developments, changes and trends since the Chernobyl accident in 1986. The areas covered include emergency planning practices and criteria, developments concerning the basis for off-site emergency planning, existing or planned schemes of monitoring networks and experiences gained from nuclear and non-nuclear emergency planning. Specific conclusions and recommendations are presented.
