Abstract

An extended theory of neoclassical impurity transport is presented, starting from the parameters of bulk plasma toroidal and poloidal rotation. A two-ion mixture (bulk ions and impurities) is studied with the Braginskij fluid model used to calculate the impurity momentum balance in the collisional regime. Analytic expressions demonstrating the influence of compressible flow on the perpendicular momentum balance and on the neoclassical Braginskij parallel viscosity are given. The predicted impurity transport is extensively compared with results published previously.
