ADAPTATION OF FLUIDIZED BED GRATE FOR COARSE PARTICLES AND HIGH-ASH PRODUCTSFunded under: FP1-ENNONUC 3C
The aims of the project were (a) to characterise the fluidisation of high-ash and coarse-particle products by means of a fluidising grate with many vertical jets and (b) to propose a technically simple form - which can be extrapolated to large-scale installations - for the various components of the grate and its means of air supply. The activities in the project can thus be divided into 2 categories: - work on characterising fluidisation with a grate fitted with many vertical jets - tests on various pieces of equipment which carry out the grate functions. The subjects studied and tested in the first category were: - axial and radial segregation in the fluidised bed according to particle size - erosion of the tubes submerged in the bed according to their position in the bundle - combustion tests on coal with a study of desulphurisation. Those in the second category were: - simplifying the arrangement for restarting the fluidising process - obtaining equal distribution of air between the various inlets.
